Tradition of Muslim Fine Art in Multan

Abstract

Muslim Fine Art is representative of the cultural and spiritual heritage of Islam. It covers a range of artistic fields including architecture, calligraphy, painting, glass, ceramics, and textiles, etc. Ancient Multan has been a renowned center of religious, social, political, and cultural activities since its inception and development into the city. There are some families in Multan who are contributing to Muslim fine art tradition for nine centuries. Along with calligraphy Naqqaashi and Kaashigari are the major fields of representation of today Multan. There are some experts who are working on camel skin for artwork. Blue pottery art has introduced Multan all over the world. Like in history Multan is still an attractive site for researchers, historians, and those who have an interest in Muslim art. The architecture of Many Mosques and shrines of the Muslim saints in Multan contains artwork of Naqqaashi and Kaashigari.In this article tradition of Muslim fine art in Multan is being discussed. We have focused on two major fields of art (Naqqaashi, Kaashigari) exist in Multan.
