Narrations relating to Arab Culture in Tafsīr Rōh ul M‘ānī (Research Oriented Critical Study)

This article is based on the research-oriented critical study of tafsīr Rōh ul M‘ānī in communicating the narrations regarding Arab culture at the time of announcement of Prophethood. The paper deals with the exquisite description of the Arab culture and civilization in detailed account. Along with the merits and demerits of Arabs, the researcher also elaborates the vices made by the pagans and different practices of some tribes i.e. buried alive daughters. The research work is based upon the qualitative approach consisting of a review of relevant literature. This discussion is not only a refresher for the faith that revives the love and reverence of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) but also reaffirms the narrations of revealed books particularly in the revival of behavior of arabs as well as entire world to the students of Ḥadīth and Sīrah. Moreover, this research significantly stands very advantageous in Islamic literature because it revisits the glorious efforts of our beloved Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and opens up an exposure for Islamic researchers to study tafāsīr of the Holy Qurān with this aspect as well. The Qur’ān gradually revealed instructions as per their psychological conditions which caused a revival unprecedented in the history of mankind. This article details the conditions, habits and difficulties found in pre-Arabs in their lifestyle and how the Qur’ān and sīrah exercised ‘Shaping’ to reform their habits and qualities.
