Abstract

The issue of women prisoners of war is one of the important issues of modern time and people look for the solution of this issue on humanitarian grounds. This study aims at shedding light on women rights in the light of the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet and International Law. And the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet has guaranteed the protection of women rights in all aspects as it encouraged to free the prisoner women and providing all their rights and it prohibited the torture of women and harming them in all kinds. But, due to the distance of many people from the teachings of shariah, they consider that it is the International Law that protects the women prisoners of war. We welcome the declaration of international law regarding the rights of women prisoners of war. There is highlighting of the teachings of the Holy Prophet and about and his pleasant treatment of the women prisoners of war. Thus, it transpires from this study that the rights of prisoners of war is not the product of modern civilization which dates back to the French Revolution, rather these rights are the product of the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet which has guaranteed the protection of prisoners of war in general and women prisoners of war in particular.
