A Study of the Negative Effects and Consequences of Materialism: In the Context of Islamic Doctrine

Abstract

Moving forward and developing in life is a positive emotion. But when it is left uncontrollable, it carries a terrible form of materialism. The travesty of materialism based on falsehood could have catastrophic consequences for humanity. This spirit of lust and self-desire took the form of looting, irritation, and strange forms of acquisition wealth, the industrial and mechanical era began, as a result, a handful of people seized the treasures of the living. And the majority of humankind began to groan over hunger, poverty and diseases in the days of these machines. Materialism is a deadly disease that adversely affects human character and society. The cure for that matter is to build a deeper relationship with the Holy Quran. From the Islamic point of view in relation to wealth, the right path is to moderate between inflation and distortion. To this, the abundance of wealth is not in contradiction to piety. Its teachings are that human beings should adopt lawful means to acquire wealth, avoid forbidden ways. And spent, what he has earned, on himself and upon those who are concerned to him and in addition to that he should consider the rights of the servants of the almighty Allah upon it too.
